Staying Healthy During the Coronavirus Crisis - March Blog, By Chris Alexis
Positively Premier: Staying Healthy During Coronavirus Crisis

Coronavirus, coronavirus, coronavirus! It’s all everyone is talking about these days, and many people are having different reactions. The good news is that smart choices can play a MAJOR role in keeping you healthy.

In fact, according to Gary Fortney, Premier’s head trainer, good health and wellness not only helps with prevention, but recovery as well. And that all comes with both physical fitness and a strong and healthful diet.
He warned people to stay smart and informed, including with what they ingest.

“Vitamin C can help prevent becoming infected, but it will not completely prevent infection,” he said. “So taking mega-doses is not a cure-all.”

A lot of healthful foods and more can be found at Premier’s bistro. They have a wide variety that will serve you well over eating junk.  This includes salads and smoothies (a club favorite which are blended with fresh fruit and berries).

Of course, physical fitness plays a role too in keeping you healthy. Be sure you’re being smart with everything you do when working out. This includes participating in exercises that are appropriate for your physical ability.

Looking for a routine? Here’s a push-dominant upper-body workout Fortney has previously shared:
Cable Face Pulls - 3x12
Barbell Bench Press - 3x12
Chest Press Machine - 4x12
Tricep Rope Pulldown - 3x12
Close Grip Lat Pulldown - 3x12
Straight Bar Curls - 3x12
Low Back Extension - 2x15
Strict Sit-ups - 3x12
Leg Lifts - 3x15

Of course, be sure to speak with a trainer if you have any questions about performing these, and make sure to keep the weight levels appropriate for your ability.

Another important thing to keep in mind is hygiene and cleanliness.

Use common sense, cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze, and wash your hands often. The good news is that “white glove” cleanliness is an absolute priority at Premier. Employees make this issue one of their absolute top goals, constantly keeping everything extremely clean. This includes everything from the fitness equipment to countertops and more.

Of course, if you’re feeling ill, be sure to stay home. Common sense can make a huge impact! If you have any questions about Premier or how we can help make you more resistant to getting ill, including helping you become more physical fit and offering you nutritious food, just give us a call at 614-336-CLUB!
