Welcome to the Gun Show! How to get Toned Arms! - September Blog, By Chris Alexis
Positively Premier: Welcome to the Gun Show! How to Get Tones Arms!
A frequent goal for people working out, most commonly men, is to enlarge the size of their arms. That information can be found right here!
According to Gary Fortney, the club’s personal training manager, the cause of for any kind muscle hypertrophy (growth) is “volume, volume, volume.”
“Volume is usually defined as sets x reps x weight,” he said. “Increasing volume in a training set is typically characterized by increasing one of (or both of) the first two in the equation because an increase in weight might be too taxing on the nervous system, among other reasons.”
Basically, the act of steadily increasing each variable over a period of time, while following a few basic principles, will grow muscles. Here are some important steps:
1. Take your time with each lift. Be patient and go slowly.
2. Full relax and fully contract the targeted muscle each and every rep.
3. Don’t push to failure, but get close.
4. Train arms as an accessory to compound movements. This will develop the muscles more fully.
5. Never neglect forearms. They take much more work to develop and much more time to grow.
6. Chase the pump. If your muscle feels pumped up, you're going the right way.
As always, make sure you are completing all activities safely. And don’t be afraid to consult one of our trainers to assist— even if it’s for just a little bit of further advice!
Welcome to the gun show!
